DUTCH GRAND PRIX
ZANDVOORT CIRCUIT - ZANDVOORT
ZANDVOORT CIRCUIT
Historic event
Before its return to the calendar in 2021, Formula 1 had raced in Zandvoort on no fewer than 30 occasions, with the Dutch Grand Prix being staged between 1952 and 1985. Jim Clark is the most successful driver, with four wins, followed by Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda on three each.
Sea view circuit
. Zandvoort is a nature-lovers’ paradise, surrounded by two nature reserves: the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park to the north and the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen to the south. The circuit overlooks the sea, which means that sand is generally blown onto the track, making life complicated for the drivers.
Ups and Dunes
The Zandvoort track was extensively remodelled for last year’s race, making it even faster and more challenging than before. It gives the drives a rollercoaster ride, which they have to attack hard, requiring plenty of confidence in their car to take it to the limit. Turns 3 and 14 now feature an 18° banking, for an even greater adrenaline rush!
