DISCOVER THE WORLD OF F1 ESPORTS!

Esports is a word one hears a lot these days; an abbreviation of electronic sports, which refers to the organised play of competitive gaming — both online and in person.

These games are no longer just a hobby for some, they have become a global phenomenon and a viable career pathway in a wide range of disciplines for those who are dedicated enough to becoming the very best.

Formula 1 now has a stake in this world and, in 2018, the first F1 Esports World Championship was held with a grid of 20 sim racers, all 10 teams competing on the official Formula 1 game.

Much like the real world, training, professionalism and meticulous preparation are what delivers results. It’s not easy to make it to the top in Sim Racing: one needs talent, a real passion for the sport, and mental resilience, among other traits.

In fact, many drivers have made the switch from real racing on track, to trying their luck in the virtual world.

SCUDERIA ALPHATAURI ORLEN ESPORTS TEAM

In 2018, we brought home an impressive second place in the Constructors’ classification, thanks to a fantastic performance from our drivers: Cem Bolukbasi (Turkey), Patrick Holzmann (Germany) and Frederik Rasmussen (Denmark)

Our Team is always looking to the future and as such we are proud to continue to compete in the F1 Sim Racing World Championship, a category that is forward looking and innovative, two characteristics that are very much part of the spirit of our Team.

In 2022 we had a very competitive line-up consisting of Sebastian Job and Joni Tormala, 2 stellar drivers in the sim racing space, joined by Josh Idowu; all coming from the Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing talent pool.

As for the ongoing 2023/24 season, Joni Törmälä is once again flying our flag, along with newcomers Jed Norgrove and Tom Manley, competing under the Scuderia AlphaTauri Orlen Esports Team name as we are racing on last year’s official Formula 1 videogame: F1 2023 .
