Countdown
to zero
by 2030

The decade from 2020 to 2030 will see an epochal change in the relationship between Formula 1 and the environment.

The FIA, Formula 1 and all teams, including Visa Cash App RB, aim to reduce CO2 emissions generated in building the cars, on track activity linked to the race cars, logistics and travel. The common goal is to have a Net Zero Carbon footprint.

2019 CARBON FOOTPRINT MEASUREMENT
Visa Cash App RB, with specialist support, calculates its carbon footprint per calendar year to measure overall CO2 emissions in 2019. The figure is around 15,000 tonnes, 74% produced by the Faenza factory and Bicester (UK) wind tunnel.
ENERGY STATION
The new Energy Station, our hospitality unit erected in the paddock at the track, is built entirely of wood and is the ne plus ultra in terms of its use of green materials, optimisation of space and its low weight for ease of transport and energy saving. All drinks are served in glasses or cans.

100% GREEN ENERGY
Visa Cash App RB decides to run its factory entirely on green electrical energy, from 100% renewable sources.
ENERGY STATION
The Energy Station becomes completely plastics-free
DISTRICT HEATING FROM CAVIRO
In order to reduce the biggest source of emissions from production activities in the Faenza factory, the use of methane gas ceases, replaced by district heating, obtained thanks to an agreement with the Caviro Group which, through its own biomass plant, produces thermoelectric energy obtained from renewable sources.

SINGLE-USE PLASTIC FREE
No single-use plastic is allowed in the factory: the use of disposable plastic is eliminated. Plastic water bottles are replaced by paper containers. The vending machines in the refreshment areas no longer stock them and employees are forbidden to use them. Instead, they are provided with aluminium water bottles to be filled at special microfiltered water dispensers.
CHARGING STATIONS
Parking spaces for Visa Cash App RB staff at Faenza are completely covered with a photovoltaic canopy. There are also points for the recharging of alternative mobility electric vehicles.
FIA Environmental Accreditation
The Team has been awarded the FIA Three Star Environmental Accreditation, the highest level of sustainability recognised by motor sport’s governing body, with the aim of helping motor sport and mobility stakeholders to measure and enhance their environmental performance.
SOLAR PANELS
In April, a new area with solar panels, right outside our Faenza factory came into use: 1,010 solar panels with an electrical power output of 580 kWp. The site is completed with the construction of a further 110 parking spaces, some of them with electric chargers for EV, covered with panels, producing a further 340 kWp, in addition to the 180kWp produced by the covered parking areas already installed recently. Most of the electrical energy produced is used by our production departments, where the Formula 1 cars are built, while any excess is fed into the external grid.
