Yuki thrives on a combination of sharp concentration, physical readiness and keeping things relaxed before the lights go out.
As race day unfolds, Yuki’s routine begins with a final strategy briefing with his engineers. This is where he absorbs the last crucial pieces of data–tyre strategy, weather conditions and potential race scenarios. While some drivers prefer absolute silence before a race, Yuki keeps his energy up with music, a key part of his pre-race mindset. Whether it is high-tempo beats to fire him up or something more chilled to keep him steady, the right playlist helps him get into the zone.

Physical preparation is just as important. Stretching exercises ensure his body is primed for the intense G-forces and physical demands of a F1 car. Quick reaction drills sharpen his reflexes, while a short warm-up routine gets his heart rate up, ensuring he is physically and mentally ready when he steps into the cockpit. Two of Yuki’s favourite pre-race activities are having a massage to loosen up his muscles and playing table tennis to get his reflexes sharp before the lights go out. The fast-paced nature of ping pong helps him dial in his reactions, making it a fun but effective part of his routine.
Despite the serious nature of an F1 start, Yuki stays calm. . A few jokes with his mechanics, some last-minute banter with the team and a bit of playful energy help him stay loose. He knows that once the visor goes down, it is all business–but until that moment, keeping the mood light helps him channel his energy in the right way.

Then comes the final ritual–getting into the car. Every driver has their own superstition, and for Yuki, it is all about consistency. He always enters the car from the same side, a small but significant habit that signals the final step in his race-day preparation.
With his belts tightened and his hands gripping the wheel, Yuki is ready. The lights will soon go out, and in that split second, all the preparation, all the rituals and all the mindset work will culminate in one goal.
