How you been, partner?
We packed the essentials this weekend, as you’d expect.

Because this isn’t any ordinary race weekend. We’re in Austin, baby, and it’s the FORMULA 1 MSC CRUISES UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX 2025. Welcome, it’s great to have you on board.
Before we kick things off, let’s address the elephant in the room. Or should I say… The tortoiseshell-themed animals in our pit boxes?
Simply put, we’re not wearing any regular team kit this weekend.
To celebrate VCARB’s ongoing mission to infuse the words of motorsport, music and culture, we teamed up with Cash App, our title partner, and Shaboozey, multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer, to reveal our snazzy, one-off Austin livery. Check out the announcement blog and the reveal video directed by Alex Russell (anyone watched The Bear? That was Alex, too).
First things first: media duties. And boy, oh boy, this was a dangerous one. We’re a bit worried Liam might be permanently altered from the Texan influence, actually. But whether you’re easily swayed by a set of spurs or not, you can’t deny we absolutely cooked with the content.
With all that good stuff out of the way, let’s get onto the racing.
Oh, and did we mention it was a Sprint Race weekend? That means even more of the stuff we do best. That gets a big yeeeeeeehawwwwww from us.
Just the one practice session for us this week (because of the Sprint), which was led by Lando Norris and saw Isack and Liam P9 and P15 respectively, both no more than 1.4 seconds off the leading pace. Our tortoise-shell-donned VCARB 02 took both drivers in SQ2, but sadly no further. Liam’s lap time was deleted for track limits and Isack was quick enough for P12.

In the Sprint itself, Max Verstappen won from pole and Liam was just one position away from scoring points, finishing in P9. Isack was three places further back. The race was ended under safety car conditions, though, so not a true reflection of our true race pace.
Regular Qualifying proceeded later in the day on Saturday afternoon, and we sadly lost Isack in Q1 after crashing out on his first push lap. Gutting. Liam made it through to Q2 and stuck his VCARB 02 into P12, same as in Sprint Qualifying. Here’s Liam and Isack’s recap of Friday and Saturday.
Sunday means only one thing: Y’ALL READY FOR RACE DAY?!
We gave our boys alternate strategies for the 56-lap marathon in the Texan sun - Hard tyres for Isack and Medium for Liam. A few positions were shuffled in the first few laps, including Isack gaining a place on Alex Albon and Liam battling Alonso for P11. A Virtual Safety Car temporarily slowed down the action after Kimi Antonelli and Carlos Sainz collided at turn 15, but once we got going again, our boys were immediately on it. Liam was battling for points with Fernando Alonso and Isack was exchanging blows with Antonelli and Albon.

Both pit stops were completed between laps 29 and 32, with Isack swapping for Mediums and Liam opting for the red-banded Soft tyres. They were both in close battles all the way to the chequered flag, with Liam falling short of points by finishing in P11. Isack held off Franco Colapinto to secure P16.
A tricky weekend for us, but we’ve learned plenty to take into the next Grand Prix.
Here’s what Liam and Isack had to say about our weekend at COTA:
It’s frustrating as there have been points available throughout the weekend which we missed out on, but we’ll take our learnings into Mexico next weekend.
Liam Lawson I still had some good battles on track and learned a lot, so there’s plenty of momentum to carry into Mexico.

Speaking of the next Grand Prix, we’re heading south. Specifically, 1,400 km to Mexico City, home of Round 20 of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship.
We’ll be kicking off the race week with our deep dive into the culture of Mexico, so stay tuned for that.
So join us from 24-26 October for the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE LA CIUDAD DE MEXICO 2025.
See ya there, partner.
