Apart from the legendary track, the little coastal resort on the North Sea is also famous for its scenic locations, such as the Zuid-Kennemerland, one of Holland’s twenty national parks.
All thirty Dutch Formula 1 Grands Prix have been held at Zandvoort and the first one, in 1952, was won by Alberto Ascari. The last time F1 raced there was back in 1985, when Niki Lauda won. The most successful driver at this track was undoubtedly Jim Clark, with four wins to his name, while Rene Arnoux was the pole specialist, starting from the number one slot three times.
This year, there’s no doubt for whom the crowd will be cheering, their local hero, Max Verstappen. Ever since his F1 debut, thousands of Dutch fans have followed him around the world. This year, the “orange army” get the chance to flock to its home track!
01Weekend Preview
I’m very excited to get back to racing
Isack Hadjar “I’m very excited to get back to racing after a few weeks of summer break. Zandvoort is a track I’m really looking forward to racing at in an F1 car, as it’s one of those I enjoy. The last few races, performance-wise, the raw speed was amazing, even if we came out without points. It looks like it might be a weekend with mixed conditions in the Netherlands, so it’s going to be challenging. There are 10 races to go in this second half of the season and we’re ready to give our best. I want to get back to where we belong and fight for points.”
I remember it being very tough
Liam Lawson “I'm feeling refreshed and ready to be back on track after a few weeks off to recharge. I'm excited to be heading to Zandvoort, a track where I had my F1 debut a couple of years ago. I remember it being very tough, and with the weather expected this weekend it will likely be challenging again. It's great to be going into the second half of the season following a strong end to the first half, so am ready to get back out there.”
