Shall we run through what we’ve been up to this weekend? Go on then…
As usual, here’s the Buda-BEST race poster you’ll see this week, courtesy of @a_rich_arts and the VCARB Creator Platform. We invited Liam and Isack to an exclusive party to celebrate both of our drivers reaching one million Instagram followers. I’m sure you’re already part of #TeamIsack and #TeamLiam, but if you’re not, now’s your chance to change that.
We started the weekend doing our finest Christopher Nolan impression, collaborating with the Williams boys for some unreal content creation. After FP1, Isack gave his Formula 2 mates some shouty support from the sidelines. Liam, meanwhile, was admiring our admin’s phone case and meeting some of his most loyal New Zealanders. Both drivers were feeling good and felt ready for qualifying, as per their Friday debrief.
Saturday in Budapest means one thing: it’s time for qualifying. And once again, we had one of our finest Creator Program contributors behind the lens for a Hungarian Grand Prix quali hype reel. @meganxshoots, take it away.
Megan’s video must have worked! Did someone say double Q3 finish for VCARB? We’ll take that. Isack put his VCARB 02 in P9, with Liam just one spot behind him. Fun fact, this was the closest top 10 in F1 history, with Liam’s P10 being just +0.543 seconds off the pole time from Leclerc. Lovely stuff. Kisses all around.
And just like that, it was time for racing. We had a special guest in the VCARB box, none other than Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses. ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ of Formula One. Let’s go racing.
Liam and Isack both started on medium tyres for a cloudy Hungarian Grand Prix. Rain was threatening to show up, but nothing quite like in Belgium last week. On the race start, Liam gained a position over Verstappen, while Isack temporarily lost out to Bearman. In his battle with the Haas driver, Isack’s hand was hit with gravel from the car ahead, but he powered on like a true Champion.
Isack was the first of our duo to pit and swapped to hard tyres on lap 34. He emerged towards the back of the field, but had fresh rubber to fight his way back up the grid. And fight his way back he did! By lap 45, Isack was back up to P12 and nipping at the heels of a point-scoring finish.
Meanwhile, Liam went deep into the race on his first tyre stint, not pitting until lap 41 for his set of hard tyres. Liam was in a tight battle with Verstappen, swapping positions throughout the final ⅓ of the race, and managed to hold him off and bring his car home in P8, securing four valuable points for the World Championship. Plenty of room in Liam’s hand luggage for some points, by the looks of things.
So what did our guys make of the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix?
“Very very happy to come home in P8 and round out this first half of a very busy season. Thank you for all the support so far, we’ll come back fighting even stronger in the second half” Liam said, with Isack going on to explain “a bit of a frustrating race, the first stint was very long. The second stint was very strong, raw pace was there the whole weekend. It’s a shame to leave Budapest with no points, but it’s been a great first half of the season.”
Right folks, we’re off for a little break now. It’s nice to end on some strong results and juicy points. We’ll be back in three weeks for the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN DUTCH GRAND PRIX 2025 for even more VCARB action.
Signing off. Consider this our out of office x
