Last time out in Barcelona, Isack and Liam again built on their double points finish in Monaco to prove the VCARB 02 is among the best cars in the midfield.
In preparation for our 70 laps of Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, we’re taking you on a tour of the second-largest province in Canada.
This is VCARB’s Cultural Guide to Montreal.
P.S. Check out the incredible race poster from Krasht Garage as part of VCARB’s Creator Platform (which you can join too!).
The Island of Montreal sits in southwestern Quebec and is the most populous island in Canada. The official language of Montreal is French, so our very own Isack Hadjar could see the Canadian Grand Prix as a home away from home.
Montreal is one of the most important cities in the world for art, culture, technology and design. It’s also the 12th most livable city in the world, which isn’t a bad stat for your city to have.

Montreal became a city in 1832 and quickly became a major player in the rail system of Canada and North America. In 2008, it was known as ‘Canada’s Cultural Capital’ and the home of French-Canadian TV film, theatres and print publishing. The city is a melting pot of English and French traditions, and as such has developed its own unique identity.
Here’s what you need to know about the great city of Montreal:

The Place des Arts is a hub of concert and theatre halls that is the home of multiple festivals in Montreal. Dances, operas and ballets from global performers are well at home here, not excluding the Montreal-based Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. The world-renowned Cirque du Soleil also calls Montreal its home.
The music scene of Montreal has gone mainstream, too, housing global superstars, such as Arcade Fire, Celine Dion and Leonard Cohen. The Montreal Jazz Festival showcases local and international artists on one of the biggest jazz stages in the world.
Cinephiles will recognise the streets of Montreal from global blockbusters including The Score (2001), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Life of Pi (2012) and John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017).

Montreal is famous for its hot dogs - it’s up there with New York on that front - and the city blends Italian, Jewish, Lebanese and Greek cultures into their most popular cuisine. Montreal-style bagels are among some of the must-try dishes.

The city is rich in culture, but also in the diversity of its tourism industry. Over 14 million people visit the city each year, with Crescent Street being one of the most popular places to visit for food, music and nightlife.
While you’re in the city, check out the Notre-Dame Basilica, Mount Royal Park and the Biodôme De Montréal for some Gothic architecture, scenic walks and immersive nature experiences.

F1 has been visiting Canada since 1967, but the current venue, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, was introduced to the calendar in 1978. The circuit’s former name, Île Notre-Dame Circuit, was replaced after the loss of the 1978 (and first) Canadian Grand Prix winner, Gilles Villeneuve.
The weather is about as unpredictable as a cold start on an old diesel engine, and Montreal is often prone to a torrential downpour. The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix is infamous for being the longest Grand Prix in history, lasting over four hours due to rain delays.

The circuit is found on Notre Dame Island, which is man-made and sits in the St. Lawrence River. It also runs parallel to the Olympic Basin, which hosted the rowing and canoeing events of the Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics.
Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton share the record for most wins around Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, with seven each.
We're all feeling fresh after our week off and a strong triple-header in Europe.
Join Isack, Liam and the team for the FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2025 from 13-15 June.
