Geographically, the circuit is perfectly situated to be one of the more popular Grands Prix in Central and Eastern Europe. Fans from Finland, Romania, Turkey and Bulgaria head to the Hungaroring in their hundreds of thousands each year to celebrate the four-wheeled spectacle of Formula One.

Something Hiding In The Trees

Liam, Arvid and the entire VCARB squad have arrived directly from Spa, ready to hit the ground running at the FORMULA 1 AWS HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX 2026. We hope you’re Hungary for this one…

In an attempt to live up to the lofty heights of Christopher Nolan, we made it our mission to create The Odyssey-calibre social filming this weekend, and ngl I think we nailed it. There’s a ragebait category at the Academy Awards, right? We think this non-linear time dilation is up there with Inception or Interstellar…

Anyway, enough of the film chat (admin could go on all day about movies), let’s get into the ABSOLUTE CINEMA that was the Hungarian Grand Prix, starting with FP1 on Friday. P9 and P10 for the lads – not a bad start at all, bettered in FP2 with Liam sticking his car in P7 and Arvid rounding out the top 10. The VCARB 03 was flying around Budapest, something you love to see. Here’s Liam’s Friday roundup:

As admin, allow me to guide you through to Saturday and Qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. After breezing through Q1, Liam was pipped to a spot in Q3 by 0.079 seconds, destined to start Sunday’s race from P11. Liam was disappointed, considering his pace all weekend, but he had point-scoring pace, and Sundays are where the magic happens. On the other side of the garage, Arvid landed yet another Q3 finish, despite limited running in FP3 earlier in the day, qualifying in P9 between Isack Hadjar’s Red Bull and Nico Hulkenberg’s Audi. Here’s Arvid’s take.

With all of that handled, and the realisation that we won’t be able to ragebait for three weeks, it’s time to go racing one more time before the summer break.

#41 Is Already

Both of our boys started on Medium tyres for the 70-lapper around the Hungaroring. It was a warm one, too, so it wasn’t going to be an easy ride. Liam made up three positions on Lap 1, passing Arvid and the two Audi cars in the first few corners of the lap and Arvid held his qualifying position as the laps began to click off. Nico Hulkenberg was within range of overtaking on Lap 6, but Arvid put up a defensive masterclass against the charging Audi. In fact, it wasn’t until Lap 20 that Arvid dropped a position, to a Mercedes at the hands of George Russell. The following lap, he came in for fresh Hard tyres and re-entered the track almost side by side with Liam, who pitted the following lap. This year, Liam and Arvid have a habit of sharing the same pieces of tarmac. Personally, we think it’s well cute, and the Lawblad allegations are in full swing…

With both drivers completing their obligatory pit stop, they made their way into double points-scoring positions when Bortoleto pitted on Lap 30. To cover a potential late charge from Audi, we opted to move Liam over to a two-stop strategy, bringing him in for a set of Soft tyres on Lap 43 and releasing him back into the race in P11. The idea of being faster on the fresher tyres was a masterclass in race strategy, as our resident Kiwi battled back into the points.

On Lap 56, a temporary Virtual Safety Car was deployed for Piastri’s McLaren breakdown, with Liam and Arvid shuffling up the grid as a result. By Lap 62, Liam had battled his way through on Hulkenberg to take P9, continuing his charge to grab P8 from Arvid on Lap 65, where he would take the chequered flag and claim four championship points. Arvid lost out to Hulkenberg on the closing laps, coming home in P10 and securing another precious point for the Constructors’ Championship.

In fact, the tally of five points between both drivers promoted us to P5 overall in the Constructors’ standings, jumping ahead of Alpine and sitting behind Red Bull Racing, which in itself is an incredible achievement. To be fair, it’s all the signs you could possibly need to call us the DREAM TEAM. We movin’ on up, babyyyyy!

With points very much in the bag, we can end the first half of the season with plenty to be proud of. Five double-points finishes, 10/11 races completed with points on the board and plenty of impeccable Lawblad action sum up a solid start to our 2026 campaign.
