At VCARB, we’re all about exploring where sport, culture, and creativity collide.
Through our Creator Platform, we bring rising local DJs into the race weekend, giving them a platform to show what they’ve got while experiencing F1 in a whole new way.
This weekend at the Japanese Grand Prix, we linked up with Yo, a Tokyo-based DJ. Across the weekend, he took over the Red Bull Energy Station each day, soundtracking the race with his own style and energy, mixing his sets with the blending of his music with the sights and sounds of Formula One.
Introducing Yo
Yo’s all about atmosphere and storytelling in his sets, not just playing tracks. “Some people just play high energy, but I prefer beautiful songs. My style is to immerse others in the ocean with my beautiful music. I like to make people relax.”
His journey into DJing started with a love for music and the balance of city life and nature. Weekends with friends, playing favourite tunes on the way to natural escapes, inspired him to transition from listening to performing.

For Yo, the standout moment was being right there by the action, literally metres from the cars. “I can see F1, and I am just playing my tunes. It is incredible,” he says.
It’s not every day you get that close to the speed and chaos of F1 while DJing. That mix of music, energy, and live racing hits different, and it’s what makes these moments so unreal for both artists and fans.

Opportunities like this aren’t just cool, they make a difference. “It’s so nice to discover new artists and give them a chance to perform,” Yo says. “I really appreciated this opportunity.”
By bringing music into the F1 world, the Creator Platform creates a crossover where culture meets racing. It’s a fresh way to experience the sport, more than just what’s happening on track.

Yo’s experience underlines the importance of storytelling, atmosphere and authenticity in music. For emerging DJs, the key takeaways are:
- Combine craft with context: read the room, create sets that fit the environment.
- Prioritise connection: think about how your music makes people feel.
- Embrace opportunities that merge creativity and lifestyle for unique exposure.
By bringing artists like Yo into Formula One, the VCARB Creator Platform is backing local talent, pushing creativity, and levelling up the fan experience, one trackside set at a time.
