We’re back in action for Round 5 of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship and joined once again by our very own Rafaela Ferreira in F1 Academy’s second round of the season. Let’s take you through the VCARB adventures during the Formula 1 Lenovo Grand Prix Du Canada 2026. Allons-y!
Kicking things off while we prepare for social filming, we have our race poster from the incredibly talented @illuslills as part of the VCARB Creator Platform (which you can be part of, btw). Plus, Arvid and Rafa play Agree to Disagree in our latest YouTube video. The question is, Brazil or England for this year’s World Cup? While we were trying to get Liam to wink at us, we were making sure the lads were in tip-top shape for their hockey tryouts, and Rafa took us on a colour hunting tour of Montreal with Alisha Palmowski.
Also, I can’t believe we haven’t mentioned it yet, but this was yet another Sprint Race weekend. Back-to-back sprinting, babyyyyyy. In Arvid and Liam’s first (and only) practice session, they finished P8 and P18, respectively. Liam did have some hydraulic problems, which saw him losing a lot of valuable track time during Friday, by also not taking part in the Sprint Quali. so don’t count him out for strong results this week). Rafa finished P8 in her F1 Academy practice session, too. Solid results across the board!
It was then time for Sprint Quali for Arvid . With the weight of the whole team on his shoulders, how did Arvid do? He pulled out an SQ3 finish and qualified P9. We were never in doubt. Rafa, over in F1 Academy, qualified P7 and P6 in the two sessions, so our VCARB machines clearly had pace around Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Here’s Arvid’s take on Sprint Quali:
Time to get our Sprint shoes on. Arvid started on Mediums, while Liam was on Hards. Our resident Kiwi made up a position on Ollie Bearman on the opening lap, followed by another position on Lap 2, and then ANOTHER on Lap 3. Before we knew it, he’d also passed Bortoleto and Alonso and was charging towards the points. Arvid slipped past Carlos Sainz for P8 to secure a precious championship point, and Liam managed to battle his way up to P11 overall. A great recovery drive from Liam and valuable points for the team from Arvid. Rafa, meanwhile, finished just shy of the podium in the Opening Race, claiming P4 and a nice haul of points.
Next up: Qualifying. We sailed through Q1 and Arvid made his way into Q3 to start Sunday’s race from P9. Liam was close to getting out of Q2 and was prepared to start from P12. Rafa then finished P8 in the Reverse Grid race, adding to her tally of solid results so far in Montreal.
And then, in the words of Arvid: “Lick the stamp, post the letter, SEND IT.” It was time for Race Day. Rafa kicked things off with a solid P10 finish in the F1 Academy Feature Race, earning 14 points over the entire weekend to sit in P7 in the championship. Not a bad weekend for Rafa! She’ll be back with us from 3-5 July during the British Grand Prix.
Sadly, there was absolute heartbreak for Arvid. A clutch problem meant he was unable to start the race. Here’s what Arvid had to say:
Our hopes rested on Liam’s shoulders as he started from P12. The track was damp (ish) and there was a mixture of tyre choices across the grid, including some Intermediates. Liam started on Mediums and gained two places on Gasly and Hulkenberg within the first two laps. By Lap 3, he was sitting in P8, looking calm and collected, as other drivers scrambled for the right tyre choice around him. Liam eventually pitted on Lap 31, swapping to Softs, and emerged in P7. He resisted a charge from Lando Norris during the middle of the race and found himself in a tense fight with Pierre Gasly all the way to the chequered flag, finishing in P7 and securing six well-earned championship points in the process. Naturally, he was quite protective of these points, as we saw in his race debrief:
So, did we have fun this weekend? Cana-duhhhh! Both drivers scored points and had mega pace. A solid weekend overall.
Join us from 5-7 June for Round 6 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship at the iconic, world-famous, glamorous Monaco Grand Prix.
